| Frequently Asked Questions |
|
 |
| 1. Can you share some tips on how I can best use tape to apply my lace wig? |
| If you wear your hair system for more than 1 week at a time before taking it off, use the tips below for a stronger, longer-lasting hair replacement bonding. Or, try our tips for daily wear attachment if you take your system off more than once a week.
Always clean and prepare your scalp properly before attaching the hair system.
If you use liquid adhesives, blue liner hairpiece tape or Pro Flex extand a bond strips, it's important to apply a scalp protector to help adhere the tape.
After showering or working out, the bond might seem like it is weakening. This is expected, your hair system is still attached securely, but the bond has softened a bit due to extra heat and moisture. Don't touch the hairpiece and as your body cools, the bond will harden again.
Airborne dust will attach itself to the toupee adhesive in the front edge of lace units and may become visible over time. Immediately after a shower is the easiest time to clean this area because the hairpiece adhesive is pliable. Spray a liberal amount of Adjust-a-Bond on the tip of a double folded tissue. Hold your hair system back with one hand and wipe the edge of the lace using the saturated tissue with the other hand. This trick will help keep your lace front edge invisible at all times. |

 |
| 2. How can I properly prepare my scalp for applying my lace wig adhesive or tape? |
| Does your hair system bond break down earlier than you'd like? No matter how strong your hairpiece tape or adhesive is, it won't stay strong or last as long as it could if you cleaned and properly prepared your scalp first.
In fact, even 1 part per million of adhesive residue that's unknowingly left behind on your head before attachment will prematurely eat away at your bond!
Step One
Removing Adhesive Residue
Begin by wiping all visible traces of hairpiece adhesive residue from your scalp with a wet towel or cloth. Using a paper towel and adhesive remover rub vigorously until your scalp is clear of any residue.
Step Two
Wash Your Entire Head
Next, hop into the shower and wash your entire head, hair and scalp thoroughly at least two times.
While showering, thoroughly scrub your scalp and hair with exfoliating scalp scrub(we recommend using an exfoliating glove, too). Rinse and repeat 4-5 times. This will help ensure any trace of hairpiece adhesive residue is completely eliminated.
Step Three
Dry Your Head
After showering, be sure to fully dry your head and scalp with a towel and/or blow dryer, removing all excess moisture.
This would also be a good time to remove or shave any hair or stubble from the bonding area. We recommend using an electric screen razor for the closest shave.
Step Four
Applying Waterproof Sealant
Last, we highly recommend applying a layer of scalp protector to your skin. This will help protect your skin as well as encourage adhesion with the tape and/or adhesive. (Allow the Scalp Prep to completely dry before attaching your hair system.)
After you have completed the scalp preparation, and only after, you will then be ready to attach your hair system |

| 3. What are the differences with the shampoo's on the market? How do I make the best selection? |
| To be effective, a shampoo must remove all dirt, oils, cosmetics, and skin debris without adversely affecting either the scalp or hair.
Scalp and hair need to be cleansed regularly to combat the accumulation of oils and perspiration that mix with the natural scales and dirt to create a breeding ground for disease-producing bacteria.
Hair should be shampooed only as often as necessary.Excessive shampooing strips the hair of its protective oil (sebum) that, in small amounts, seals and protects the hair's cuticle.
TYPES OF SHAMPOOS
With many of the types of shampoo available on the market today, you want to become skilled at selecting shampoos that support the health of the hair, whether it is natural, color-treated, fine and limp, or coarse and wiry.
Always read labels and accompanying literature carefully so that you can make informed decisions about the use of various shampoos.
Shampoos for hairpieces and wigs
Depending how frequently you wear your piece and the type of products used for styling and hold, product build up may occur on your unit causing the hair to lose shine, body and styling-ability. In addition, the hair may become dry in appearance and possibly frizzy. To treat those conditions, you must use a clarifying shampoo made for hairpieces followed by a conditioner. |

| 4. How can I budget for my lace wigs? It's really hard for me to afford buying them outright! |
| Try our Diva Hair Club! It offers affordable monthly payments!
Save money. Save time. And save yourself the constant worry of re-ordering hair. Let us do it for you! Just sit back and relax and check the mail!
Are you trying to budget the cost of your hair expenses?
Keeping up appearances... one hair system at a time
We all know wearing an undetectable hair replacement system means sacrificing durability. For the most natural appearance, the thinnest and most delicate materials must be used. Makes sense, right? Unfortunately this means your hair system will begin showing signs of wear after only a short period of time (from 1 to 3 months most times, depending on how well you treat it).
Your traditional retailer or Hair Club® requires that you come in for regular (and often costly) maintenance appointments to keep up appearances. But we take a different approach...
Forget repairs & costly monthly appointments, just buy new!
Our standing order discounts are designed for those of us who need the best appearance all the time... not just the first couple months! You get new hair, automatically delivered to your front door as often as you need it. And you save money in the process. Did we mention there are no contracts?

| 5. What are the steps for applying Ultra Hold Adhesive? |
| Adhesive: Ultra Hold
Supplies Needed:
Scalp Protector, Lace Release, Ultra Hold Adhesive, & C-22 Citrus Remover, Brush, and Knot Sealer
Step 1: Prep Your Hairline
The first step is to cut the lace back to the hairline. Be careful not to cut any of the baby hair. Place the wig on your head. Position the wig hairline about ¼ cm in front of your hairline. Once you are satisfied with the matching of the wig and your hairline, mark the area with an eyeliner perncil where you would like your hairline to start. Remove the piece and carefully cut the lace back to the hairline. Do not leave any lace on the unit for the most natural look.
Step 2: Clean
Use Scalp Protector around the perimeter of your head to remove any oil or bacteria. Start with the front of your hairline, then the back, and finally the sides. Please use a skin protector to create a layer between your skin and the glue to avoid dermatitis. Oily skin weakens the bond of the adhesives and prevents the strongest hold. Allow the Scalp Protector to dry before applying the glue.
Step 3: Adhesive Application
Ultra Hold Directions
Use Ultra Hold very sparingly, a little goes a long way. I don't recommend using the brush that comes with the jar; it allows too much glue at once. Use an adhesive brush to apply the adhesive in small, thin layers.
Apply a thin coat of glue around the perimeter. Use a cool blow dryer until the glue is tacky/sticky. The glue takes about 15 minutes to get tacky, please do not apply the lace onto the glue until it's very sticky or your wig will lift in a couple of days.
Use a blow dryer on cool heat (lowest setting, never hot) to dry the glue until it is a little sticky to the touch. Press the unit and glued area together and apply constant pressure until the unit stays by itself. This may take 1 minute or longer, but be patient.
Repeat the steps for your nape and sides. Before you style the wig please wait 15 minutes to allow the glue to adhere and completely dry. |

| 6. How do I properly wash my lace wig? |
| I'm writing to share with you tips on how to wash your lace wig without damaging the lace or losing hair during the process.
Have you ever brushed your lace unit and the brush becomes full of strands that should be on your head? How about needing a case of Drano in stock at your home because the drains in your sink often are clogged? Well, it sounds like you're losing valuable strands of hair and you need an intervention!
Step 1: Toss the Brush!
Brushes are not the ideal grooming tool for lace-based hairpieces. The nubs on the bristles tends to the pull the hair out during the brushing process. A wide tooth comb is ideal for grooming the hair and styling.
Step 2: Knot Seal..Seal...Seal...
Seal your knots with any of the three knot sealers we recommend to improve the longevity of your hairpiece. Spray about 30 pumps on the underside of the hairpiece before you wear it the first time, and subsequently after each shampoo. Using knot sealer has extended the life of my units about six months!
For an investment of $18-$22 your can save hundreds of dollars.
Step 3: When Wig is Wet, Thou Shall Not Comb!
Ok, the most common cause of hairloss on wigs is a result of combing it when wet. The lace used on wigs is actually a fabric material, so when it is wet it stretches if pulled. In the process of combing the hair, the strand of hair, which is knotted to the net, is pulled by the comb and stretches the net as a result. Unfortunately, the fabric doesn't shrink, so your knots are stretched out and the hair comes out as a result. So to avoid that, please don't comb your hair when it is wet. Use your fingers and allow it to dry prior to grooming.
Step 4: Put Your Hand on Top of Your Head and Apply Pressure Before Combing Your Hair.
I often use the analogous relationship of the protection an alarm system offers versus that of window security bars. (Forgive me, I'm from New York City and window bars are all too common!)
So...window bars offer a physical deterrent to an intruder, as opposed to an alarm system which is a preventative solution for handling an intrusion. The action of holding your hand on top of the strands prior to combing it provides the physical pressure needed to prevent it from shedding and using knot sealer is your proactive solution for minimizing hairloss. |

| 7. How Do I Properly Choose your Lace Color? |
| The correct process to choose your lace color for your lace wig is to match the lace to your scalp complexion not your skin color. Please follow the examples below for a guideline for choosing your lace color.
Transparent: For White, Off White,or Cream scalp tones similar to Jessica Simpson
Light : For Light Beige or Beige scalp tones similar to Ciara or JLO
Light Brown: For Light Brown scalp tones similar to Beyonce
Brown: For Dark Brown scalp tones similar to Oprah.
If you currently have a wig that does not have your appropriate lace color, you can adjust it very easily with one of the two following methods. |
|
|
 |
| 8. How Can I Adjust My Lace Color To Look More Natural To Me? |
| You can use Temporary Hair Color to change your Lace Color!
I learned this trick during a lace wig application with a clien in which her lace color was too light and visible to the eye. After a trip to the Sally's Beauty Supply and $4.99, our problems were solved!
To adjust your lace color in a matter of minutes, you can use a Temporary Hilight Spray at the roots of your hair to create a lighter color.
The product purchased was the Streaks "N Tips Temporary Hilight Spray Color"," which may be purchased at Sally beauty Supply or on their website.
Step 1:
Match the Color to your skin tone based on the results you would like to achieve.
For a lighter lace color or lace that appears like bleached knots (blonder roots) choose:
* For Medium brown skin tone like Janet Jackson I suggest using the "Gold Dust" color.
* For Light skin tone like Beyonce I suggest using the "Golden Blond" color.
* For Darker skin tone like Oprah or Alek wek, I suggest using the "Brown" Color.

Step 2: Once your unit is applied part your hair into several sections as if you're going to conrow it going from the hairline back to the nape.
Step 3: Shake the bottle and spray onto lace and hair from 1-3 inches away from hairline. Spray from hairline to crown of head (top) for a natural appearing "scalp".
Use a glue application brush to evenly spread out the color evenly.
Step 4: Use a baby wipe to clean excess spray from hairline.
Your spray hair color can easily be removed during your next shampoo. |
